Properties of Cromax 1506W waterborne basecoat

Cromax bodywork paints comply with Directive 2004/42/EC on VOC emissions. It has a very good coverage/garnish balance and is very easy to apply, so you save on application time, but above all on the quantity of product used for one application.

Preparation for Cromax 1506W Paint

Cromax basecoats are ready to use and do not need to be thinned. Depending on the application conditions in terms of temperature and humidity, the bases must be mixed with binders:

• LV 1640WB binder (low viscosity)
• HV 1650WB binder (high viscosity)
• HT/FH WB400 Thinner

Preparing the surface

Clean the surface with soap and water to remove all impurities.

Degrease with a good preparation cleaner, then carry out any necessary repairs.

Sand the surface to smooth out any irregularities mechanically using 400 or 500 grit abrasive paper, or wet using 1000 or 1200 grit abrasive paper.

Remove all traces of sanding dust by blowing with oil-free compressed air.

Finish by degreasing again with a final cleaner/degreaser.

Applying Cromax body paints

Cromax finishes are applied in 2 operations. Except for metallic and pearlescent colours, which require 2 coats followed by a light 3rd coat.

Substrate for base colour 1506W

Cromax hydro Matt basecoats can be applied to :

• All original and repaired finishes.
• Primers and 2K Refinish surfacers.
