The different types of car paint :
1K Alkyde car paint
1K Alkyd Base is a One-component paint based on alkyds. Alkyds are synthetic resins used as binders in paint, giving it fast drying properties and good adhesion to the surface. With a matt, gloss or satin finish, 1K alkyd base can be applied with a spray gun or directly with a colour-coded car paint can. Drying time between coats is 5-10 min at 20°C and 2 hours at 20°C for final drying.
Advice : Be careful to apply evenly and not to overload the coats.
2K P.U. Car Paint
2K P.U is a two-component polyurethane-based paint. Known for its resistance to weathering, mechanical and chemical aggression and UV rays, it is suitable for commercial vehicles (buses, trains, truck cabs). Matt, gloss or satin finish, 2K P.U. is applied with a spray gun. The drying time between coats is 10 min/20°C and for the final drying count 2 hours at 20°C or 30 min at 60°C for the satin finish and 5 hours at 20°C or 30 min at 60°C for the matt and gloss finishes.
Advice : We advise you to apply your different coats of Paint evenly and not to overload them.
2K Epoxy car paint
2K Epoxy Base is a two-component epoxy-based paint. Epoxies are synthetic resins renowned for their resistance to mechanical and chemical attack. A satin finish, 2K Epoxy is applied with a spray gun. The drying time between coats is 10-15 min at 20°C and 6 hours at 20°C or 30 min at 60°C (dryer) for final drying.
Advice : We advise you to apply your different coats of Paint evenly and not to overload them.
2K Direct Gloss Car Paint
2K Direct Gloss Base is a two-component paint: the paint base and a Hardener. Designed to give a high-gloss finish directly after application, there is no need to add a clearcoat. 2K Direct Gloss is applied with a spray gun. Drying time between coats is 10 min at 20°C and 16 hours at 20°C or 30 min at 60°C for final drying.
Advice : 2K colours react with humidity; ensure that all containers and tools are absolutely dry. During coating, the relative ambient humidity must not exceed 80%.
Solvent-backed matt basecoat
Matt basecoat is a paint containing organic solvents. These solvents are used to keep the paint in a liquid state before application, then evaporate during the drying process. As a matt finish, Solvent basecoat can be applied with a spray gun or directly with a colour-coded car paint can. Drying time between coats is 5-10 min at 20°C and 10-15 min at 20°C for final drying.
Advice : For two-coat (1/2) and three-coat (1/3 and 2/3) colours, a Clearcoat is required for the final coat. The use of solvent-based car paint is authorised within the limits of Directive 2004/42/EC. Carross cannot be held responsible for unauthorised use.
Matt basecoat with waterborne finish
Matt basecoat with waterborne finish is a water-based paint. Unlike traditional solvent-based paints, it uses mainly water as a solvent, which considerably reduces emissions of volatile organic compounds. Matt basecoat can be applied with a spray gun. The drying time between coats is 15 minutes at 20°C and 20 minutes at 20°C for the final drying.
Advice : The shade and gloss of metallic effects depend on the application method, the application viscosity, the flow coming out of the spray gun, the pressure settings, the way the gun is held, etc. We therefore recommend using a Test cardboard to achieve the parameters that will enable you to obtain the shade.
