There are several types of Clearcoat for bodywork, each with its own specific characteristics depending on the use, the desired finish and the method of application or drying conditions.
1. Clearcoat High Solid (High Solid):
This type of Clearcoat is characterised by its high solids content, with more material deposited per coat and providing excellent gloss and durability as well as good Theoretical coverage. This Clearcoat has high UV and weather resistance.
2. MS (Medium Solid) Clearcoat:
This type has fewer solids and is therefore easier to apply. Thinner than High Solid, it is generally easier to stretch. Ideal for quick repairs or medium bodywork. MS Clearcoat is a good compromise between quality and ease of use. It has the advantage of being less sensitive to drips than High Solid.
3. UHS (Ultra High Solid) Clearcoat:
This type of Clearcoat is for use on top-of-the-range finishes. It has a very high dry matter content and is very thick. It requires controlled application and a professional bodywork environment. It has the advantage of exceptional film thickness and maximum gloss and durability.
4. Fast drying Clearcoat :
Designed for quick repairs, spot repair or non-cab conditions.
