What are the steps involved in using PPG's T4342?
Step 1: Degreasing the surface:
Wash then remove residues and dry thoroughly before cleaning again. All surfaces must be cleaned and dried before applying the hydro base.
Step 2: Sanding technique :
Original finishes should be sanded with P500 abrasive paper and primers with P500 abrasive paper or a fine-grain abrasive pad.
Step 3: Mixing preparation :
Shake the paint cans for a few seconds before use. Use nylon filters specially designed for use with water-based paint (125 to 190 microns).
For repairs to bumpers or wheel arches, the addition of T492 High Performance Additive is strongly recommended. Optimum viscosity is 20 to 27 seconds, and may vary according to the level of dilution chosen. Pot life is 3 months.
Once the Preparation is ready, homogenise it before applying it to achieve beautiful results.
Step 4: Adjusting the spray gun and applying coats :
Using an HVLP gravity spray gun, adjust the nozzle diameter to 1.2-1.4 mm. Apply 1 coat, then after the surface is completely dry, apply the second coat. The dry film thickness should be 10-20 µm.
Apply a placement veil on dry film at an input pressure of 1.2-1.5 bar (except for opaque colours).
