Anthony Bronzino: a promising future in Drifting
Drifting, a unique motor sport
Drifting is a motor sport in which drivers take a series of bends while sliding along the track in a controlled manner. The word 'Drift' comes from the English word for 'skid' or 'drift'. Unlike most motor sports, where the main objective is to achieve the fastest time, Drifting puts the emphasis on a Coveralls of speed, skid angle and driving style.
This sport requires perfect control of the car and coordination of movements. Drivers have to find the right balance between acceleration and control to keep their vehicle in the slipstream while following a precise trajectory.
Drift competitions are judged by three experts who assess the drivers' performance using a telemetry device to measure speed and skid angle. The aim is to achieve smooth, aesthetic skids while putting on a real show for the public.

The 2024 French Drifting Championship
The French Drift Championship is one of the most prestigious drifting competitions in Europe. Held every year, the championship attracts a large number of drivers from all over France and even from neighbouring countries.
The rounds of the French Drift Championship
The championship takes place over 5 rounds on different circuits across France:
- Round 1: Val d'Argenton - 17 & 19 May 2024
- Round 2: Croix en Ternois - 21 & 23 June 2024
- Round 3: Val de Vienne - 26 & 28 July 2024
- Round 4: Calmont Touge - 31 August & 1 September 2024
- Round 5: Val d'Argenton - 20 & 22 September 2024
Stages of the French Drift Championship
Each round comprises two main phases:
- Qualifying: Drivers complete solo runs in which they are assessed on speed, skid angle, line and style.
- Battles: The top 16 or 32 finishers from the qualifying round (16 for the 'Pro' category and 32 for the 'Elite' category) compete in elimination duels. Each duel consists of two runs: one driver leads and the other follows, with the roles reversed in the 2nd run. The judges assess the follower's ability to stay close to the leader and imitate his movements.
Anthony, an ambitious driver
Anthony Bronzino, 29, is a young Drift driver in the 'Pro' category. Passionate about the world of cars, he chose to pursue a career as a mechanic, and has been practising Drifting for the past 7 years.
A big BMW fan, Anthony naturally opted for this make of car, finding in it the performance and reliability needed to excel in this demanding sport.
At the wheel of his 1987 BMW 3 Series E30, Anthony Bronzino took part in the first race of the French Drift Championship as a Wildcard (a Wildcard allows a driver to contest one round of the season in order to try out a track, score a good result or simply get started in the competition). This was his first participation in a Drift competition.
