Brand Overview
A workshop brand, born out of retail
Carross is our own brand. It has been in existence since 2010 and did not arise from a catalogue opportunity, but from what we hear every day at the counter and in the workshop. A body repairer does not buy a product: they buy a stage in their repair process. Filling, sanding, masking, primer, applying, finishing. The Carross ranges have been developed in that order, step by step, so that a workshop can cover the entire repair process without having to deal with multiple suppliers or compatibility issues.
Developing products under our own brand enables us to meet two requirements that are often seen as conflicting. On the one hand, a level of performance that is genuinely usable in day-to-day production — not a loss leader that looks good on a technical data sheet but disappoints by the third spray booth. On the other hand, a controlled price-quality ratio, because there are no middlemen between the product’s formulation and the counter where the body shop collects it. When it comes to high-consumption items in a workshop — Abrasives, Masking materials, Putty, Clearcoat — it is this difference in cost structure that makes a difference at the end of the month.
Products validated in the workshop, not just on a technical data sheet
A product isn’t included in the Carross range simply because it’s available. It’s included because it has been tested by our Tech’Team: bodywork technicians and painters who prepare, sand and apply products on a daily basis, under the same conditions as our customers.
It is they who judge a putty on how easy it is to shape and sand, a clearcoat on its smooth finish and durability, an abrasive on its actual service life rather than its stated grit size, and a masking tape on how it behaves when removed after curing. A product that doesn’t prove itself in the workshop doesn’t make it into the range, even if it would be profitable to sell. It is this stage that makes the difference between a private-label brand and a mere collection of imported products.
What the range covers, in the order of workshop procedures
The range is organised to mirror the sequence of a repair job, enabling the creation of a fully-equipped workshop with no gaps between stages.
- Preparation and filling — aluminium-reinforced finishing putty, for excellent workability and easy sanding with P150 abrasive; Fiberglass putty for structural repairs; Universal multi-purpose polyester putty, suitable for both steel and aluminium.
- Sanding — Ultimate Blue Premium and Finish Black discs for demanding jobs, Eco Gold disc for high-volume work, Sand Net abrasive for open-mesh sanding, and abrasive rollers for hard-to-reach areas.
- Masking — kraft masking paper in economy and premium versions, Premium 100° hold masking tape, and masking foam tape for window and door frames.
- Primer — ECO 2K VHS 4:1 filling primer, for filling and levelling before application.
- Finishing — Ultra Gloss Premium UGV clearcoat for a high-end finish, Eco Gloss Antiscratch 2:1 for resistance to micro-scratches, Rapid Gloss VOC 2:1 when booth throughput dictates the pace.
- Custom-mixed paint — paint prepared using the vehicle’s colour code, which avoids tying up stock on rarely requested colours.
- Workshop environment — booth filtration, accessories and small tools.
Two product ranges, a clear choice
Our product names are not merely decorative: they indicate a specific positioning. The Eco range is designed for workstations where consumables are used in large volumes and where the desired performance is consistency at the lowest possible cost. The Premium and Ultimate ranges are aimed at jobs where the finish is judged by eye, on a difficult colour or a highly visible part.
A well-organised workshop uses both. The most common mistake is not choosing the cheapest product: it is using the same product for everything, and thus paying too much for high-volume consumables or falling short on quality for the part that the customer will be looking at closely. Our teams are here to help you make this distinction based on your volumes and the type of vehicles you work on.
The main benefits
- A complete range from a single supplier. From putty to Clearcoat, the products are designed to work together: fewer compatibility issues between layers, fewer reworks.
- Consistent value for money over the long term. Our own brand absorbs the cost of intermediaries, whilst offering equivalent performance on the most commonly used consumables.
- Field-tested. Products are tested by the Tech’Team before being offered.
- Ready to use color. Paint is mixed to colour code, eliminating the need to finance idle stock.
- A point of contact who knows the trade. Product advice isn’t limited to availability: it covers compatibility, drying times and the choice of product range.
