Properties of Permahyd Hi-TEC 480 HT356 lacquers

Permahyd 480 Hi-TEC HT356 waterborne lacquer is easy to use, and can be applied to vehicle interiors as well as multi-tone and multi-layer systems. It gives an exceptional finish, particularly on metallic effects. It also makes it easy to make joints, thanks to the simple, effective wet-on-wet technique. It's quick to use and gives excellent results.

Preparing the surface before application

Start by thoroughly cleaning the surface with Thinner Permahyd 7080 or Permaloid 7010. Dry sand using an orbital sander with dust extractor and 500-600 grit paper, or wet sand with 800-1000 grit paper. Then clean again with Permaloid 7010 Thinner to remove all traces of dust and residue. Finally, wipe off any excess cleaner with a lint-free cloth.

CAUTION: Sanding holes must be less than 5cm in diameter and insulated with Wash-Primer 4075 before applying the lacquer.

Standard application of Permahyd 480 Hi-TEC lacquer

Apply the product using the disposable cup system. To do this, filter the water-soluble bases with a 125µm water-resistant filter. Mix the base with Permahyd Additive WT 6050 in a lined plastic or iron container. For applications at high temperatures and low humidity, use Permahyd Additive 6052 instead. Check the correct viscosity using the Permahyd Hi-TEC Standard ruler. For an opaque shade, add 10% Additive, and for a metallic shade, add 20%. The Nozzle should be 1.2 - 1.3 mm in diameter, and the pressure should be 2 - 2.5 bar. Apply the product in 1.5 coats, i.e. a full coat, followed by an effect coat, without any desolvation time. If the shade is very light, a second full coat can be applied using the "wet-on-wet" system. Before applying Permasolid Clearcoat High Solid, wait until the surface is completely matt. For opaque shades, apply a coat of 12 - 25µm, for metallic shades, 10 - 15µm is sufficient, and for pearlescent shades, 15 - 20µm.

Three-coat and multi-tone application of Permahyd 480 Hi-TEC lacquer

Add 5% Permahyd Hardener 3080 to the lacquer. For an opaque shade, add 10% Permahyd Additive WT 6050/6052 (for application at high temperatures and low humidity), and for a metallic shade, add 20%. The pot life of the mixture is approximately 60 minutes for an effect tint, and approximately 120 minutes for an opaque tint. To apply, use a 1.2 - 1.3 mm diameter Nozzle and a pressure of 2.0 - 2.5 bar. Apply the product in 1.5 coats, i.e. one full coat, then one effect coat, with no desolvation time. If the shade is very light, a second full coat can be applied using the "wet-on-wet" system. The surface can then be covered with a Permasolid High Solid tint or Clearcoat. For application inside a vehicle, where the product is to have a satin gloss effect but no protective varnish is to be applied, thin the lacquer with 10% Permahyd Hardener 3080, following the process described above, and allow to dry overnight at room temperature.

Recommendations for using this product HT356

• Do not use these bases pure, as this will not produce the desired tinting effect.
• Use personal protective equipment (mask and goggles) when applying the product.
• After using the product, rinse the equipment withPermahyd 6000 demineralised water, then clean with Permaloid Thinner 7020/7989.
• Store the product between +5°C and +25°C. Warning: the lacquer must not freeze.
