Description of Glasurit Eco Balance A-U-17 Primer:
What is A-U-17 Eco Balance Primer?
Glasurit's A-U-17 is an Eco Balance Primer for Plastic surfaces. Eco Balance Primer is a 2K primer from the AraClass range, formulated according to Glasurit's Eco Balance standards, with a specifically adapted Hardener. It offers excellent adhesion to steel, galvanized steel, aluminium, old paint and cataphoretic substrates. Thanks to its "biomass balance" formulation, this product replaces a proportion of fossil fuels with renewable, RedCert²-certified materials, helping to reduce CO2 emissions.
This product is available in 1 litre quantities and is intended for professional use only.
What are the main features of A-U-17 High Quality Primer?
- Compatibility: steel, Galvanized steel, aluminium, cataphoretic substrates, old paints
- Sandable finish, good film retention, good film thickness for an even appearance
- Eco Balance eco-responsible formulation: use of renewable raw materials via the "Biomass balance" process, RedCert² certification, reduced carbon footprint
What are the benefits of Glasurit A-U-17 Plastic Primer?
1. Technical advantages :
- Excellent multi-substrate adhesion: reliable hold on steel, Galvanized steel, aluminium, cataphoresis and old paints: reduces the risk of delamination or rework.
- Easy to sand: for fast work and a smooth finish, limiting the time spent on preparation before painting
- Homogeneous coverage: even application gives a perfectly smooth surface, improving the final finish of topcoats
- Versatility: a single primer covers most needs, simplifying stock management and reducing the number of products to be used
- Durability: excellent resistance over time, limiting customer returns due to poor adhesion and appearance
2. Environmental and regulatory benefits :
- Eco Balance formulation: incorporates renewable raw materials thanks to the "biomass balance" process
- Reduced carbon footprint: RedCert² certified, it actively contributes to reducing the workshop's CO2 emissions
- Regulatory compliance: facilitates compliance with environmental standards (VOC, emissions) imposed on workshops.
3. Economic benefits :
- Fewer products needed: thanks to its multi-substrate compatibility: reduced stock and simplified logistics
- Saves process time: better sandability, fewer Touch ups, faster application: more vehicles treated per day
- Reduced risk of error: a single product for different substrates
What is the Eco Balance technology of A-U-17 Plastic Primer?
Glasurit's Eco Balance technology is based on the "biomass balance" principle, which is a sustainable production approach for paints, primers and Clearcoats.
1. Principle of Eco Balance :
- Substitution at source: as soon as raw materials (resins, solvents, Additives) are manufactured, part of the fossil resources (oil, natural gas) is replaced by renewable raw materials (biomass, such as organic waste or vegetable oils).
- Independent certification: traceability is guaranteed by the RedCert² label, which checks that the quality of the biomass injected at the start of the process corresponds to that recorded in the finished products.
- Identical quality: the final product has the same technical performance as a standard Glasurit product, but with a reduced carbon footprint.
What's in it for the bodybuilder?
- Same application and durability as a standard primer: no compromise for the bodybuilder
- Fewer CO2 emissions over the entire lifecycle: a direct contribution to the carbon reduction targets of body shops
- No adaptation required in the workshop: same processes, same mixes, same final finish
Using Glasurit Eco Balance A-U-17 Primer:
1. Substrate Preparation :
- Cleaning: wash the part thoroughly, removing all traces of silicone, grease, Wax or dirt with a special Plastic antistatic cleaner.
- Sanding: lightly sand the surface with a fine abrasive (P400-P600) to improve adhesion.
- Dusting: blow off with compressed air and wipe with a lint-free cloth.
2. Application of an adhesion promoter :
- On raw plastics (PP/EPDM) it is essential to apply a Glasurit® Plastic adhesion promoter.
- This promoter ensures that the primer adheres perfectly to the substrate.
3. Mixing preparation :
- Mix the A-U-17 Eco Balance Primer with its dedicated Hardener in the Mixing ratio indicated on the Glasurit technical data sheet (generally, the Mixing ratio is 4:1).
- Add the recommended Glasurit Thinner if necessary to adjust viscosity.
4. Application to your substrate:
- Using a Spray gun (and a nozzle set at 1.6-1.8 mm) with a spray pressure of 2 bar
- Apply 2 to 3 thin, even coats, allowing sufficient time for evaporation between coats (approx. 5-10 minutes).
- Objective: to obtain a covering, smooth, even coat.
5. Drying time :
- Dry at room temperature or in a spray booth (30 min at 60°C).
- Check that the primer is thoroughly dry before sanding.
6. Sanding and finishing :
- Dry or wet sanding (P400-P600 grit)
- After sanding, my part is ready to receive the base or finish.
This Plastic Primer has a number of strong points when applied to a plastic surface, including optimised adhesion thanks to the promoter and easy sanding, which saves preparation time. There is less risk of peeling or flaking over time.
