Description of Carross’s Suprême Gloss SGV5 clearcoat:
The Suprême Gloss clearcoat, available in 5-litre cans, is a very high-quality clearcoat with a high solids content. This professional-grade clearcoat is specially designed for full vehicle paintwork with a short drying time.
This SGV5 clearcoat is recommended for solvent-based and water-based base coats. It offers a crystal-clear gloss and very high hardness, whilst ensuring easy application for body repair technicians.
This high-quality clearcoat maintains a stable viscosity after the hardener has been added, ensuring easy and reliable application thanks to a prolonged evaporation time and a working time of 90 minutes. The clearcoat’s properties make it suitable for all types of work, from spot-repair to complete vehicle refinishes. Your productivity will therefore be optimised thanks to its fast drying (5 minutes at 60°C or 3 hours at 20°C) and excellent gloss.

How is Suprême Gloss SGV5 clearcoat applied?
- Preparation instructions: 2 parts clearcoat + 1 part hardener
- Application to your surface using a spray gun: 1.3 mm nozzle
- Apply 1.5 coats to your bodywork
- Flash-off time between coats: 8–10 minutes
- Recommended film thickness: 90–100 µm wet / 50–60 µm dry
- Be sure to allow 10 minutes before baking
Highly fluid UHS clearcoat offering a perfect finish without orange peel. To prevent running, it is essential to apply
one thin layer (unloaded) followed by one full coat, with a strict flash-off time of 8 to 10 minutes.
Application conditions:
- Temperature: 18–22°C
- Relative humidity: 40–60 per cent
- Theoretical coverage: 10–12 m²/l
- Pot life: 90 minutes at 20°C

- At 20°C: touch-dry in 80 mins / ready for polishing in 3 hours / full hardness in 5 days
- At 40°C: ready for polishing 20 mins / full hardness 20 mins + 4 days at 20°C
- At 50°C: ready for polishing 15 mins / final hardness 15 mins + 4 days at 20°C
- At 60°C: ready for polishing in 5 mins / final hardness in 5 mins + 4 days at 20°C
- Before polishing, allow 1 hour to cool after curing at 60°C
- IR curing: 8 to 15 mins (follow the IR lamp manufacturer’s recommendations)
NOTE:
Allow the product to reach the recommended application temperature naturally (avoid rapid heating or cooling). It is not recommended to apply the product at a temperature below 18°C. A low application temperature alters the characteristics of the coating finish (increased open time, longer curing time). Before application, the product temperature, the spray booth temperature and the object temperature should be adjusted to approximately 20°C.
