Properties of Cromax 90xR Plastic Primer
Cromax 90xR 2K plastic primer is a two-component primer specially designed for application to plastic without the need for a bonding agent. However, polyethylene, polypropylene and polyoxymethylene must not be coated. The product is also extremely resistant to stone chip damage.
It forms part of the ValueShade concept, which provides an optimal base coat for Cromax topcoat colours.
Preparation of new parts
Heat new parts for 60 minutes at 60–65°C, clean with 3871S followed by 3950S, and finally remove the release agent.
Application of Cromax 90xR plastic primer
- Use in a 1:1 volume ratio with its 2K plastic activator 915R.
- Spray with a 1.3–1.4 nozzle
- Pressure: 1.8 to 2 bar
- Apply a thin layer followed by a second normal coat without a flash-off between layers.
- Top coat within 24 hours at the latest with a 2K elasticised clearcoat or a matt basecoat + elasticised clearcoat.
- Sanding: wet sanding with P800–P1000
- Drying time: 8 hours
