The high-productivity 2K acrylic clearcoat designed for bodywork professionals
Carross’s Air Gloss clearcoat (Ref. AGV) has been developed to meet the profitability and throughput requirements of modern body shops. Formulated using the latest 2K acrylic resin technologies that are VOC compliant, this clearcoat combines exceptional air-drying speed with excellent flow and a beautiful, deep gloss.
The key benefits of air-drying for your workshop:
- Direct energy savings: By eliminating the need for a 60 °C oven curing cycle, you instantly reduce your gas and electricity consumption.
- Reduced pressure on the paint booth: Free up yourpaint booth quickly after application. Full curing takes place in the preparation area at room temperature (20 °C).
- Fast turnaround and express polishing: The clearcoat is touch-dry in 30 minutes and ready for polishing in just 60 minutes at 20 °C.
- Thermal flexibility: For workshops wishing to further speed up the workflow, it remains compatible with a short curing cycle (15 mins at 40 °C or 5 mins at 60 °C).
Versatility and application performance
Air Gloss Carross clearcoat is extremely easy to apply over all basecoats on the market, whether water-based or solvent-based. It is equally suited to touch-ups and spot repairs as it is to painting complete components.
Its standard mixing ratio of 2:1 (with Carross AGD0.5 or AGD2.5 hardeners) allows for simple application without the need for additional thinner. It guarantees excellent mechanical strength, long-lasting resistance to weathering and scratches, as well as long-term gloss stability without sagging.
Workshop application guidelines
- Preparation: Ensure that the matt basecoat is completely dry before application.
- Application method: Apply a thin layer, even first coat, allow 5 to 6 minutes for the solvent to evaporate, then apply a full coat.
- Target film thickness: Aim for 50 to 60 µm dry film thickness to ensure optimal levelling without the risk of over-thickness.
