Description of Carross Multi Premium AMP-B primer
This premium primer offers excellent adhesion to: steel, aluminium, zinc, cataphoretic coatings, polyester laminates, common plastics (wet application) and surfaces repaired with polyester putties.
This premium primer can be used as: a high-build primer / build-up primer, a wet-on-wet primer or an air-drying primer.
Application of Carross Multi Premium AMP-B primer
Use as a high-filling primer:
- Dilute with 10–15 per cent AMPDIG1 Multi Premium Filler Primer Thinner
- 4:1 ratio with AMPDU1 hardener for Multi Premium primer
- Apply one to two coats, allowing 10 minutes’ drying time between coats, using a spray gun fitted with a 1.8 mm nozzle
- Dry film thickness: 70–180 µm
- DPU: 15 mins
- Sanding dry with P400–P500 or wet with P800–P1000
- Cure at 60°C for 30 minutes
Use as a filling primer:
- Dilute by 20% with AMPDIG1 multi-premium filling primer thinner
- Mix in a 4:1 ratio with AMPDU1 multi-premium primer hardener
- Apply one to two coats, allowing 10 minutes’ drying time between coats, using a spray gun fitted with a 1.6–1.8 mm nozzle
- Dry film thickness: 40–120 µm
- DPU 20–30 mins
- Cure at 60°C for 25 minutes
Wet-on-wet application:
- Dilute by 30 per cent with AMPDIM wet-on-wet multi-premium primer thinner
- Mixing ratio 4:1 with AMPDU1 multi-premium primer hardener
- Apply in a single coat using a spray gun fitted with a 1.3 mm nozzle, allowing 25–30 minutes’ drying time before applying the topcoat
- Dry film thickness: 20–30 µm
- DPU: 30–40 mins
Air-drying application:
- The substrate must be clean, dry, degreased and matt
- Mixing ratio 4:1 with AMPDU1 hardener
- Dilute by 30% with AMPDIAIR air-drying primer thinner
- Apply 2 coats using a spray gun fitted with a 1.3 mm nozzle
- Allow 4 to 5 minutes between coats
- DPU: 15 mins
NOTES:
This product has very high filling power. For best results, keep the dry film thickness of the topcoat to a maximum of 180–200 μm. A higher film thickness increases drying time and may lead to coating defects.
