Primers Plus LE Cromax LE2004 - Grey 3.5L

Properties of Cromax’s Low-Emission Medium Grey LE2004 primer

The Plus LE2004 primer is VOC compliant (VOC content 540 g/l). With a very high solids content, it offers excellent filling power and achieves the same film thickness with fewer coats. It can be sanded both dry and wet. This product is compatible with the ValueShade®* system.

Preparation of Cromax LE2004 primer

The LE2004 primer must be mixed in the following proportions:

• Sandable filler: fast-curing activator 256S(vol. 4:1) + standard thinner XB383 or high-temperature thinner XB387 (vol. 4:0–0.2)
• Sandable blending primer: XK203 fast-curing hardener (7:1 by volume) + XB383 or XB387 (7:0.5–1 by volume)
• Standard sanding filler: High Solid AK260 hardener (vol. 5:1) + XB383 or XB387 (vol. 5:0–0.25)
• Standard sanding filler: XK205 hardener or AR7305 hardener (vol. 7:1) + XB383 or XB387 (vol. 7:0.5–1)
• Large-area sanding filler: slow-cure activator XK206 or slow-cure activator AR7306 (vol. 7:1) + XB383 or XB387 (vol. 7:0.5–1)
• Wet-on-wet surfacer: AK260 (vol. 3:1) + 2 parts AZ9032 / LE2031 + LE2031 wet-on-wet converter (for Centari®)
• Standard wet-on-wet: (4:1:3) AZ9032 / LE2031, LE2035 for large areas only (XK206 / AR7306)
• Wet-on-wet for large areas: XK206 or AR7306 (4:1 by volume) + LE2031 or LE2032 or LE2035 (4:3 by volume)
• For water-based primers, use the converter without sanding: AZ9032
• The LE2031 sanding primer is not recommended for use under water-based primers.

The LE2004 primer can be applied using various methods

Standard application with sanding:

• Metals (steel, galvanized steel, soft aluminium): to be overcoated with a 1K Wash Primer or an epoxy primer. For small areas, pre-treatment wipes are an alternative.
• Old paint or original paint.
• Original cataphoresis coating.
• Surfaces prepared with 2K polyester, with a fine sanding finish.
• Glass-fiberglass-reinforced polyester, free from release agents.

Standard with MS sanding:

Suitable substrates, after sanding and cleaning: bare metals (steel, galvanized steel, aluminium) protected by a 1K wash primer or an epoxy primer, or by pre-treatment wipes for small areas; old paintwork and original finishes; cataphoresis; finely sanded 2K polyester; fiberglass-reinforced polyester without release agents.

Standard without sanding:

Treated bare metals (1K wash primer or epoxy primer), old paintwork, cataphoresis, 2K polyester and fiberglass, all sanded and cleaned.

Substrates for application of LE2004

The LE2004 primer is suitable for:

• original finishes and old oven-cured repairs.
• Cataphoretic coatings
• Sanded polyester putties, epoxy primers and reactive primers
• Bare metal must be coated with Wash Primer 1K or an epoxy primer before applying LE2004

It can be overpainted with any Cromax topcoat.

• DTP: 2h30, 2–4h at 20°C / 20–30 min at 60°C
• Sanding: P360–P500 dry or P800–P1000 wet

*The ValueShade® system provides a simple solution to issues associated with modern transparent pigments. There are 7 ValueShade® formulations corresponding to 7 different levels of intensity: from white to black, including various shades of grey. The chosen grey undercoat enhances the intensity of the transparent colour. The desired colour is achieved by applying two standard coats, the last of which does not need to be thick.
