1. Preparation of the mixture
Measure out the recommended quantity of paint or clearcoat according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Gradually add the thinner (usually between 5% and 25%).
2. Mixing the products
Mix the thinner and the paint/clearcoat thoroughly using a hand-held or mechanical mixer to achieve a uniform consistency.
3. Application conditions
Ensure that ambient conditions (temperature and humidity) are in line with the recommendations to avoid problems such as sagging or incorrect drying. Thinner 1-151 is designed for standard drying and is suitable for moderate temperatures.
4. Spray
Apply the mixture in thin layers using a paint gun. Check the flow of the mixture to ensure easy and flawless application of the topcoats.
5. Drying time
- Initial powder dry drying: This is a fast drying stage that reduces the adhesion of dust particles to the surface. It takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes at room temperature (around 20°C).
- Handling dry: The paint or clearcoat becomes hard enough to be handled or lightly sanded. This takes between 1 and 4 hours, depending on the thickness applied and the product used.
- Fully cured: The film reaches its maximum strength, which can take between 24 and 48 hours at room temperature (around 20°C). Accelerated curing can be achieved in a high-temperature booth (around 60°C), significantly reducing this time.
6. Cleaning
