Fiberglass body repairs
Fiberglass fabric for car or motorbike bodywork is a practical solution for filling a hole or reinforcing an impact on a bodywork surface, protecting it with a material renowned for its strength and versatility. Fiberglass is highly flexible, which makes it easy to adapt to the exact curves of the bodywork being repaired. It's practical for repairing any kind of car body support, as long as it's sheet metal. It can also be used to repair many other vehicles, and is highly versatile: motorbikes, caravans, boats and liquid tanks of all kinds.
Precautions before using Fiberglass
You should carry out your bodywork in a clean, dry workshop. The temperature should be at room temperature to ensure optimum drying. Once the surface has been brushed and the crumbling parts are no longer present, you can finish off the work with coarse sandpaper. Next, Degrease the bodywork or surface. Then remove the dust. Apply an anti-corrosion primer such as those offered by Carross. When the primer is dry, you need to have enough polyester resin and mix it with a Hardener.
Fiberglass can be cut using good scissors or a cutter. Don't pull on the fibres! Go over them with the cutter blade or use the scissors again.
Next, apply the mixture of resin and Hardener. The spatula will help you to press the product firmly into place. The result will be satisfactory when the resin is applied evenly and smoothly.
When the Fiberglass is dry, you can fill in and smooth out any imperfections with polyester filler, and you can even fine-tune the work with sandpaper until the result looks perfect!
